ABOUT THE HOST
My passion for food started when I held my first baby. Having devoured all books on what nutrients to offer the little one, I realised that I knew nothing of what we were being fed. This search for knowledge carried on well after my decades working in the music industry.
I started producing and selling preserves, I would research each produce for its nutritional health and its history down the ages; in short, I fancied myself to be a food detective.
Extensive travel has also broadened my culinary horizons and reinforced my belief that you cannot get to know people’s culture without a visit to the market for the smells, the sights, the sounds. My diet has been vegetarian for over 27 years, I am currently a 54-year old going on 17 and I learn about foodstuff every single day. My own cultural heritage is Lebanese and though I favor it above all else, I love Peruvian and Thai cuisines. Having never liked the idea or taste of meat, I was lucky at a very early age to be around a huge selection of vegetarian food.
çMy cooking is simple yet delicious; it’s highly nutritious and carefully chosen. If a produce lacks vibrancy, it stays on the shelf and if its origins may hint at GMO farming practices, just forget it!
I derive great satisfaction from having guests at the table enjoying my food; there's something sacred about this eating together ritual, as you've given part of yourself to others. That being said, a great meal is the sum of great light-hearted company. All I ask of you is to bring a big smile and a hearty appetite.
