Best Vegan Food Snaks For Road Trip

Vegan Snaks for Road Trrip

Planning a vegan road trip for the summer? You can’t forget about the food, of course! You decide on the destination while we will help you choose some vegan road trip meals to bring along with you. We decided to make this a fun and enjoyable experience full of convenient options that are both nutritious and satisfying.

Vegan road trip meals

For your main meal, you can choose between a fake tuna sandwich (made with smashed chickpeas, finely chopped red onion, nori seaweed, lemon juice, salt, pepper and vegan mayonnaise mixed in) or a bifana, a typical portuguese sandwich, for a very easy to make meatier option. You just have to cut your favorite seitan into small steak pieces and fry them in butter, blonde beer and add a lot of mustard, garlic, salt and pepper. Put it inside a bun and you’re done!

You can also fry some large pieces of unpeeled sweet potato and season it with salt and oregano as a side dish. You can try this combination at the best vegan restaurant in Lisbon as part of our vegan food tour in Portugal, once the quarantine is over.

You can also buy a sheet of puff pastry and bake some sausage rolls, or pack some spring rolls filled with your favorite raw veggies wrapped in rice paper. Don’t Forget the homemade hummus so you can dip these rolls in it. Carrots and zucchini slices are also a great option!

Vegan Pizza for road trip

Pizza is always a classic choice, whether you like to add pineapple or not (we won’t judge you). Especially if you’re in Italy. In that case, you can join us in our vegan food tour in Rome to discover the charms of Italian gastronomy.

If you prefer a homemade option, you can buy just the base, add your favorite toppings, then put it in the oven the night before. It tastes good even when cold. You can also pack a mexican salad made with quinoa, black beans, sweet corn, bell peppers, and tomato, seasoned with some olive oil, lime juice, garlic, salt and cilantro. For another option, you can pack some fried zuchinni noodles with cashew nuts and cherry tomatoes or mushrooms.

As for drinks, some homemade lemonade with mint leaves or some juice made from any seasonal fruits available at the market.

Vegan road trip snacks

Now that we are reaching the end of the meal, let’s talk about the best vegan road trip snacks!

A fruit salad is always a classic, topped with some lemon juice and cinnamon. You can also bring some dates with peanut butter on top, a mix of nuts and dried fruits, some delicious homemade chocolate brownies or protein bars that you can easily make with some oat flakes, peanut butter or agave syrup (or both), mix everything together, and add your topping of choice, like chocolate chips, shredded coconut, or nuts. The options are endless! You can also shape them into protein balls. Chill them overnight and they’re good to go.

Now that you’re probably salivating with this vegan road trip food, it’s time to put into practice! Don’t forget to pack everything in sustainable containers and a refrigerated bag. Hopefully you’ll have a beautiful landscape to taste these options, and never ever leave your trash behind.

Happy road trip!
